Problems innstalling programs

yet some more problems for me, as im a totaly noob in this.

2 questions from me this time, i dont know if im doing it correct but anyway.

Im trying to get 2 programs to work, Xmms for mediaplayer and aMSN.

The problem with aMSN is that i get the error that i need a TLS file. I have downloaded it and go a SO filetype, but im not sure what to do with it. I thouth it was that i needed the OpenSSL program but i cant get that to start. I cant download the TLS file from aMSN, as i get at error that the file dont excist.

Also, i dont seem to get Xmms to innstall. How do i do this in Linux?

Im a 3.11 Windows user, its like learning to ride a bike again, i seem to keep faling :)

this sounds really close to my problem. I even thought the same way as you. Let me point you to the topic I started.

I think you should be fine after that. for the TSL problem at least. MSN requires TSL support and by default looks in the Mozilla folders. Not sure about the Xmms installation though. Never used the program but I assume at the very least if from source, it is along the lines of ./configure; make; make install

bear,

which distro are you using? Most distros have a package manager that will fetch and install packages for you - all you need to do is check a box and click on "apply".

I have checked my packages and there are no TCL to install, neither in the advanced system.

OK. Which distribution?

After some looking into the synaptic i found both tsl, ssl and openssl. All are innstalled and OK, no error reported. Still aMSN yells out for the TCL file. Should i try to re-install aMSN?
