Angry Problems finding the right drivers for Broadcom 5761e RHEL 4.4 (Driver Disk)

I would like to use a Redhat 4.4 boot disk to install from an NFS partition. The problem is that the RH Boot disk does not have driver support for the onboard NIC. It's a Broadcom 5761e.

I've used dkms to create a drive disk using the tg3-<dkms> package from When I go through the dialogue to insert the driver disk, I'm told "No devices of the appropriate type were found on this driver disk."
Installing the dkms package from dell works just fine once the OS is installed so I'm sure I have the correct driver for my hardware.

I made the disk for the 2.6.9-42.ELsmp kernel. Could it be that the boot disk is using a different kernel?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just for yucks I made the disk for the EL kernel and that didn't work.

I noticed the device wasn't listed in the pcitable file on the driver disk so I added the corresponding entry and it worked.

I can now install over the network using my driver disk.
