I am running W7 at the moment and just about to remove the c drive and install Zorin 8 on a clean formatted drive and then to install Zorin 9 Premium 64 bit as I am having a problem with W7 a long winded procedure I know but the only one I can think of. What I wanted to know in very simple terms why does Linux distros work quicker that the main stream Microsoft and in even simpler terms what is the difference between MS/Mac & Linux. The reasom for this is although I have purchased a dowmload from Zorin, Windows will not allow me to use any other search engine. Internet Explorer corrupts the download and to put it politely I am buggered.

Is this an older pc? What are the specs? Zorin is somewhat "heavy" on the resources and just wanted to make sure you didn't have an older pc that might not be able to run it well.

I am not a technician and have not used a Linux system before this OS seemed ideal for a person like me I am being asked to check md5sum with Nullriver's WinMD5Sum How do I do that?, I can download it but what do I do with it. The trouble is I am sure that many more of Microsoft users would use Linux if there was more info on how to do and a step by step online manual. We just want a stable easy to use and download system because we are users and do not know the technical in and outs of systems. Sorry about tirade but a little frustrated at the moment.

Wow, have you not tried google at all? There are loads of sites to guide one through Linux installation, configuration etc. Then once installed, there are man pages, info pages how-to's.... it is so well documented it is almost crazy.
Zorin is another of dozens of knock-offs of Ubuntu and much of what you do on Zorin is the same as Ubuntu, the installer certainly. There is a brief explanation on installing Zorin at the link below and the second link has an FAQ. There are literally thousands of tutorials on installing Ubuntu and its derivatives online, just make the effort.
First, I would assume your specs are fine for the Zorin.
Also, if you mean you purchased the premium version directly from Zorin, my understanding is that includes one on one support. Also, the zorin site has their own forum, so that's another place for you in addition to here.. Finally, all the questions you have listed would be answered here, but it probably would help if you started a thread that indicated the topic better (e.g. How do I do a MD5sum check). I had a youtube link that showed how to do that in windows but I can't find it now. Do a search in youtube for WinMD5Sum (I think that is the name) anyway it's a simple thing once you see how to do it. Good luck! Just keep asking questions and you will get a hang of it. And, again, if you are going to pay for linux, make sure and use whatever they claim you are entitled for that.
