Problems allocating write privileges to directories for users

I'm using Debian Sarge with KDE / KDM. I've had quite a bit of trouble giving users permission to write to my storage drive. chmod is great for individual files, but I haven't been able to give an entire directory write access using that program. Any suggestions?

Type the following command at the command prompt:

Code:
man chmod
and pay special attention to the -R switch.

Hope this helps.

that was easier than I had ever thought!

Wow just adding -R after chmod, then my changes, did the trick! I had been tinkering with Konqueror and KDE for weeks tring to get write access and then just like that. I never knew that man chmod would produce a manual. Is that standard on many programs?
