Problem with video downloads with ubuntu 9.1

I am using firefox with the download helper to download youtube etc. The file types are flv. They download to about 1MB and then the downlaod cancels itslelf. I'm using a wireless broadband connection. The dl speed is about 591 kbps.

If the video loads completely in your browser it is stored in /tmp. You can just copy from there

That's another problem I am having btw. Should have mentioned that streaming takes hours...

What sort of Broadband connection are you referring to? If this a Cell Phone type broadband, DSL/Cable WIFI Broadband? Are you doing this in a public access location or home? This sort of information could help determine if it's with your equipment or the actual connection.

It's wifi and at home. I have another laptop running snow leopard and there is no problems with the downloads. And I have tried using IceApe, Google Chrome and all the same problem.
