Problem With Shutdown And Sleep Mode
No matter which Linux distro i try
if i instll it completely (wiping Windows) or run it live if i close my laptop's lid and reopen it, it will freeze and when i shut it down it will start shutting down but wont power off the laptop. . But when i tried Slax Linux that runs live only lid closing problem was still there but when shutted it down it powerd off normally. . i am using Acer Aspire E15 (ES1-512-P8AD). Processor intel Pentium N3540 2.16Ghz. GPU intel HD Graphics 1792MB. RAM 4GB. |
Shutting the lid may be sending the laptop into suspend mode. If suspend does not work well with your hardware, the computer may freeze up. If so, try adjusting the power settings. Power is generally under Preferences.
My linux knowledge is insufficient to help with the shutting down problem. What linux distributions have you tried? That may help others help you. By the way, a web search using "linux laptop power settings" (minus the quote marks) found some pages with tips for lengthening time before recharging is needed. That may be helpful, too. Good luck. |
Slackware tends to have all installed by default. Plus a BSD style init system versus systemd. Normally I have to install additional things in debian for those features. Like acpi-support, laptop-mode-tools, acpid, and stuff. But I tend towards minimal installs that lack most things.
