Question problem with shared libraries when printing

hey everybody.
The printing problem just popped up one day. I had already installed Lexmark printer drivers, and had been using the printer for quite awhile. Today the printer didn't print, and lpq showed the message:
"Status: IF filter 'z33.sh' filter msg- '/usr/local/lexmark/z33/lexerrorz33: error while loading shared libraries: libvdkcompo.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory' "

libvdkcompo.so.1 is located at /usr/local/lib/. I reinstalled LPRng and lexmark drivers, but to no avail. The same message. It has also appeared to stop other installation executables. What is going on here? Has anyone had this problem before? All help is appreciated.

go to /usr/local/lib
ls -l libvdkcompo.so.1
it will show where that is linked to(if it is linked)
libvdkcompo.so.1->/.../.../libvdk...
remove the link
now
go to /usr/lib
do ln -snf /usr/local/lib/libvdk... libvdkcompo.so.1
it should work

I removed libvdkcompo.so.1, and then redid the linking between it and libvdkcompo.so.1.2.5 . However , the same error message popped up. My printer is the only local printer, and the /etc/printcap file looks like this:

##PRINTTOOL3## LOCAL
lexmarkz33:\
:sd=/var/spool/lpd/lexmarkz33:\
:mx#0:\
:sh:\
:lp=/dev/usb/lp0:\
:rw:\
:if=/usr/local/lexmark/z33/z33.sh:
##PRINTTOOL3## LOCAL
z33-outfiles:\
:sd=/var/spool/lpd/z33-outfiles:\
:mx#0:\
:sh:\
:lp=/dev/usb/lp0:\
:rw:
##PRINTTOOL3## LOCAL
lp:\
:sd=/var/spool/lpd/lp:\
:mx#0:\
:sh:\
:lp=/dev/usb/lp0:\
:rw:\
:if=/usr/local/lexmark/z33/z33.sh:
Something with the software is still screwed up, for head alignment scripts that connect directly to the printer can print to it. Any suggestions?

Make sure /usr/local/lib is in your /etc/ld.so.conf, then rerun /sbin/ldconfig.

shlibs need to be in a well know dir (/lib or /usr/lib) or in the linker cache. The linker cache is controlled by you, so ensure /usr/local/lib is in there. You can see what's in the cache with

/sbin/ldconfig -p
