Problem with Mozilla-Firefox in saving settings ?

I keep my monitor in 1280x1024 and I consider the fonts in Mozilla firefox to be to small. So I press twice Ctrl++ and the font size increses to my desired value. How can I make this change permanent ? (because when I colse firefox and open it again the fonts are small again)

I am using FireFox 0.8.

Basically, you need to go to Tools -> Options and click on the General Icon. Then click on the Fonts & Colors button. Increase the Proportional Font Size from the default value (16) to say, 24 or 26 and click OK.

That will save the new font size.
