Problem with "make install" command!
I am trying to install clamav-0.92rc2. I follow the read me file and it just says to follow the regular ./configure then make then make install. Problem is when I do the make install I get a permission denied.

fexter@fexter-desktop:~/clamav-0.92rc2$ make install

test -z "/usr/local/lib" || mkdir -p -- "/usr/local/lib"
/bin/bash ../libtool --mode=install /usr/bin/install -c '' '/usr/local/lib/'
/usr/bin/install -c .libs/ /usr/local/lib/

Anyone have a clue?

Thanks so much!

Try doing the install as root.

use sudo
to install as root:

sudo make install

of course you have to have sudo permissions

That is the standard way to install tarballs. Some developers do combine the make and make install steps into a single make install step.
