problem with log-in panel....
 

I was using Linux the other day and accidentally pressed F8...the display went all funny, with distorted lines all over. I had to reboot my computer...

I don´t know what I managed to do but after that , my linux logging-in panel only gives me two interfaces to choose from (Default and Failsafe). I used to have others such as Icewm, Gnome, KDE, in the list of options. Also, instead of just displaying my user name as user log-in option , there are now other options of users such as rpm, boot, etc....

can anyone tell me how to rectify this? what is the source of the prob?
