If you are connected to internet with Suse then use Yast package manager. I do not understand why dont you search for a while on LQ. This has been taken so many times. If not then give exact error.

VLC, Suse

Enable repo's in Yeast2 : 1)
Yeast2 > Software Repositories > > "Add" >
insert the following a) Type: HTTP, click Next :
b) Servername:
c) Directory: /pub/videolan/vlc/SuSE/10.3
... and click 'Next'.
You will now have a text file in /etc/zypp/repos.d/ :

... see attached images, text, please.

2) Yeast2 > Community Repositories > > "enable" :
Videolan Repository .... and probably :
Main Repository ( OSS ) , Main Repository ( NON-OSS ).

Next, just do su in a terminal, and
zypper in vlc
... ( or use Yeast2 ).

... And you have 'VLC media player' in the Menu.
