Question problem with Installing red hat linux dual boot(/boot < for 1024 cylinders )

iam new to linux and started studying about it few days back.

i have 40 GB HD and allocated as
cprimary partition)------->win98 (7.44 GB)
d:---------------------------->fat32 (7.44 GB)
e:---------------------------->win2000 advanced server (NTFS) (8.5 GB)
f:---------------------------->fat32 (8 GB)
and rest 8 GB for linux

i installed red hat linux 8.At the time of partitioning, it gave an ERROR MESSAGE for /boot partition creation

the error message says that the /boot partition is not sufficient for 1024 cylinders
i continued with installation.Later i didn't fiind much problem.after completion system rebooted andstuck in the middle after 3 OKs....(extactly 3 OKs come and stuck every time).

i even created a boot floppy at the installtion time.even with boot floppy, system hangs after 3 OKs( OKs after the Interative startup heading).

i noticed that /boot partition was not created atall.

i selected the bootloader to be in "hda10" and not in MTR

my motherboard is mecury
intel 810 chipset
ram ---128 MB

please help me what to do

thanks in advance

Whats the last thing it tries to load before it hangs? if it's able get to the stage where its starting up services then the bootloader is working ok. You do not need a separate /boot partition, it can exist in root.
