Problem with GDM in Fedora 17
I have installed Fedora 17 xfce and it has been working fine. Suddenly when I switch on it starts up and shows the desktop, but no Login screen or icons!
Anyone have any idea what has caused this, and will I have to reinstall Fedora??
Kind Regards
Bob

(Some bug.. check redhat bugzilla)
Press ctrl-Alt -F3
login to the terminal as root.
Install gdm, kdm
#yum upgrade -y
#yum install gdm
install lxde and kdm.
kde if your computer has enough memory.

Hi Amani, my son has installed another DM already... I think it's called slim?
The login works every now and then. At other times it just displays a blank screen.
The mouse cursor is visible, but sometimes erratic.
I don't want to have to reinstall Fedora if I can help it! But at present cannot see any other way....
Kind Regards
Bob

You do not have to reinstall.
slim is a login manager, not a dm
install lxde and boot into lxde sessions.
Post output of
#lspci -vv
PC specs?
