Problem with eth1

I am using virtualmachine with RHEL5 as guest OS. I was trying to do NIC bonding with two ethernet cards, for that I added one additional ethernet card with my virtual machine. But machine is not detecting this card and gives the following error message:"pcnet32 device eth1 does not seem to be present, delaying initialization." Please tell me how to come out of it.

type 'ifconfig -a' to show all network interfaces. Maybe it isn't eth1

Its a virtual machine and i have added virtual ethernets, so nable is there to check. Getting the same error when running ifup eth1. Result of ifconfig -a also doesnt show eth1.

is that mean your eth0 is detected but eth1 is not detected on your guest environment?
which network connection method that you have used to connect virtual network(bridge or nat)?
