Problem with dual booting Win XP and Fedora 8

I am trying to dual boot using Windows XP Professional and Fedora Core 8. I ghosted over my hard drive to a new one and left about 80+ gb unallocated for my linux partition. When i went through the linux install and restarted, the only thing in get is GRUB in the upper left corner of the screen and regardless what i do with the hard drive i dont get anything different. Before i did the linux install i could use the drive and access my windows partition now nothing.

Ah you are getting the Raven. It says grub, and nothing ever more :) Hate that. By chance are you installing with the XEN kernel? If so try re-installing without XEN. Usually when I get the raven it's because XEN doesn't like something about my hardware. Installing and deselecting XEN usually does the trick.

If your not doing so, when you install choose customize now during the install. Uncheck XEN and you will probably find the problem goes away. In any case it's a piece of your kernel not liking the hardware. Remove the offending piece, in this case probably XEN and you'll do fine. If you are dual booting you really don't need the virtual machine anyway and there are other virtual machines that are less picky about hardware that you can install instead.
