problem when loading some programs

Ok, so I am now getting ajusted to using Linux but I am having trouble loading some programs. I am running Suse 9.2 with KDE on a up to date system.

I installed LMMS (a music composing program similar to Fruityloops) everything went ok when downloading and installing it, but when I click the icon it sits there and bounces for a while as if it is to open like any other program. But after about 30 seconds, it stops bouncing and the program never opens. The same thing happened with OpenOffice a couple weeks ago, but I just restarted the system and it worked fine. I have a gig of DDR PC2700 ram, so I don't think it is a lack of memory. Anyhow, if you have any ideas please let me know.

THNX.

...by the way, if you have any other wise words concerning linux feel free to enlighten me with them!

Try running LMMS from within a terminal. You'll have to find out what command clicking on the icon actually runs (though I would guess it's probably just lmms).

Most applications will send output to stdout or stderr even if they are gui based, and if the program just plain couldn't be loaded, the reason why will definitely appear in the terminal.
