problem to start wifi service through terminal

hellow everybody,
i am begginer in linux and using centos 6.2 and compaq presario CQ60 and i have one botton for bluetooth and wifi to enable it, and my problem is that botton doesn't work properly to enable it i have to try more and sometime it takes around 15 min, what i want to do is i want to start service from terminal.can it possible to start.

i have tried # top command to find which service does wifi use but i have no idea, i have done what i know.

any kinds of ideas and suggestion are welcome, i'll be greatful for your ideas and comments.

Hi

To start wifi from terminal

Code:

sudo ifconfig wlan0 up

Wlan0 being your wireless interface. But the device has to be switched on by the switch.
I have not found away of bypassing the switch if is not on.

Code:

sudo ifconfig wlan0 down

will bring the interface down
