problem starting fedora on laptop

hi to all
i have installed fedora core1 on my laptop, compaq presario.
at the time of booting
i get this messsage

initializing firewire controller (ohci13..... and the system hangs

tried starting interactive startup
but 'I' doesnt work, what should i do to get this off and start working on my ltop.
sometimes i also get this error at the beginning of interactive start menu

\umount2 error
\umount2: initrd.d

plz help me out
