Problem printing pdf files (okular 0.8.4 KDE 4.2.4) on openSuse 11.1

A few months ago I was trying to print a pdf file using 6 pages per sheet. I had to do some experimenting with okular since the available options did not give the output I wanted.

Today, I tried printing another document, one page per sheet and the result is 4 pages per sheet! No matter what options I change, the output is the same (4 pages per sheet). I tried FoxitPDF from wine still no change.

KPDF 0.5.10 using KDE 3.5.10 release 21.12.1 prints without a problem.

The printer is a Canon Pixma iP4500 using Canon's linux drivers (ver 2.80 http://software.canon-europe.com/products/0010484.asp)

Any suggestions/aid would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

EDIT: After printing with KPDF, I tried okular again and now the printout. is as it should (1 page per sheet). I did not do anything weird with KPDF. I just said puplex printing, one page per sheet. SO, what was wrong with okular?

What experimenting with okular did you do?
Did you do things as root or a normal user?

You could try logging in as a different regular user and try printing then. That may tell you if you made changes that weren't system wide.

In okular if you go to the options in print and then pages you will see a drop-down list saying top to bottom, left to right etc. None of it gave the correct orientation and I had to experiment with these choices. I do not think I did anything as root. If memory serves correctly, I also tried KPDF with the same options (6 pages per sheet, duplex) and did not work either. After closing KPDF, I returned to okular and managed to get the correct layout. I saw the problem today, when printing another pdf file

If you made these changes in the print dialog, I bet you were changing printer options and not Okular options.

You could try reseting the printer. Also look for a hidden directory in your home directory that the cannon drivers may use to save your settings. I use an HP printer and have a hidden ~/.hplip/ directory with a configuration file.

Point your web browser to "localhost:631". This will take you to the cups configuration interface. Select the printers tab and "manage printer". You may have options there that are helpful. Also try taking it off-line and on-line again.

Look in ~/.kde4/share/apps/okular/docdata/. There should be an xml file for your pdf file. Is there anything in there that reflects printing pages or orientation? You could simply delete this file.
