problem paying hd video

s it necessary to have GPU to play 1080p content on laptop? When i tried it on intel i5-480M processor with fedora17,the video was not smooth but cpu usage remained below 50% on all cores. The Nvidia card was switched using echo OFF > /sys/kernel/debug/vgaswitcheroo/switch so that it remained off.

I have a three year old laptop with an integrated graphics card and core-2 duo processor. I have never run into problems with high definition content. My guess is that the source of your problem is coming from somewhere else (are you streaming the content?)
