problem installing program

I'm trying to install Gphoto, and having a problem during installation. Obviously I'm new to this.

I've untarred the installer. In terminal I'm entering the directory with the untarred files.

I'm running "./configure", no problem, all seems to go well.

Then I'm running "make" and it errors out saying "make: *** No targets specified and no makefile found. Stop.".

Any clue what I'm doing wrong?

Did you find any file name Makefile in the source directory.
This file is generated by ./configure and it is require for the make step.
The error message say that this file is not exist.
Please check, there must be something wrong in the ./configure step
Or you may have deleted the file after the ./configure step, or the you don't have permission to access the makefile, or anything.
Please check again carefully.

if make says that, then configure didnt go okay.. Look for warnings or errors at the end of configure.. You can run it again if you missed them.. Its probably some missing dependency.

Yes it's got a Readme, and I did.

I wound up finding some info in the manual (of all places!), went really smoothly from there. Downloaded and installed everything automatically from CVS, who'd a thunk.

Thanks for the help.
