problem installing firefox

i'm trying to install firefox. when trying to install i get the message:

cannot execute binary file

if it makes a difference i burned the tar.gz file to a cd off a windows machine then mounted it my linux machine. extracted the file as instructed off the mozilla website. ran the command instructed by mozilla and received this error. which reminds me what is the proper command to mount a cd? i want to do it all through the terminal. thanks.
