Problem installing an NVIDIA card

I've installed an NVIDIA 128MB GeForece4 MX440 AGP graphics card into Kubuntu 7.04. I used konsole to install the nvidia-glx, changed the "nv" to "nvidia" in xorg.conf, and rebooted. But when I try to configure the card there's nothing in the settings box. Konsole gave me the following error messages:

jacatone@Dell:~$ sudo nvidia-settings
Password:

ERROR: Unable to determine number of NVIDIA GPUs on ':0.0'.

Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks

Do you see the nvidia logo on boot up? What is the output of "glxinfo | grep direct"? (it should answer "yes"). If you see the logo and get a yes output the driver is installed. If not try running "sudo nvidia-xconfig". See this:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Bi...29%7C%28glx%29
Also, check your xorg.conf. See that under "modules" you have "Load glx" listed, and comment out "Load GLcore" and "Load DRI".
Also check synaptic to see if nvidia-settings is installed. It should install along with nvidia-glx.
