problem in the install


hi ..
i tried to install red hat (fedora)
many times but it always say that there is no screen...

so i tried to install it again but this time before install it i went to
general or F3 and i typed
linux resolution=1024*867
so after a while it works
and i install it
when it was gonna finish install there where gnome with other programme i guess ...

this is my firsttime with linux and i really wanted to test it .. but until now i couldnt

every time i try to log in after it ... it comes
[root@localhost root]
i typed startx
so it said that there is no screen


plz can any body tell me what to do to solve this problem ...

hi

when u get the mesage that u do not have a screen then try

ctrl+alt+(+,-) 3-4 times

maybe u switch to a different screen

You have to install your video card drivers. If you have those installed you need to tell the config file which video drivers to use.

Which video card do you have. If you have nvidia the official Nvidia site has drivers for you.

i really try what u told me many times but it didnt work and nothing appear to me !!! so what else can i do??

mr. darkleaf actually i didnt istall my vidio card coz i didnt know the kind that i have to pick and i even didnt know if i have one coz it's not my computer and i just take it .. so while i was istall linux i didnt take any option from the vedio card!!

so plz if the problem with that ..can u tell me how to do it ???

I actually had similar but not exactly the same problem few days ago. My was when the system try to start the logon window it could not start. I was kind of expected the problem because when I install I could not find the exact monitor type (my was flat panel that there is exact driver yet). What I did to fix the problem was try to find a most close monitor type during the installation. It might not the same reason for your problem but you might wanna try.
