Thumbs up problem in partitioning

hallo everybuddy,
i am partitioned my harddisk as three drives for windows XP and one for red hat linux 8.0.(5093 MB). i am failed when i tried to create the /boot - 102MB,swap-256,/ - remaining. it comes up with the error message. but i partitioned without creating the /boot. but it`s working properly i think. would this be a erroaneous partioning. help me to partition perfectly.
