problem in Downloads
 
My ubuntu defaults on VLC player for all downloads.
where do I find what application will just let me download a file.
instead of VLC media player?
and where is it found?

I have a similar problem with my Ubuntu computer: my Firefox wants to open any downloaded file in gedit. Double-clicking them in the file manager opens them with the correct programs.

Check Firefox preferences to see how it is configured. Username75 please post what browser you are running if not Firefox.
