problem dual booting Vista and Ubuntu 6.10 with 2 sata drives

Because I am an IT guy I decided to install vista on my home computer to learn it before all the people I work with upgrade to it, Bad idea I know. However, before this I had XP and Ubuntu dual booting perfectly with xp on hd0 and Ubuntu on hd1. I had also installed grub on the MBR of hd0.

When I installed vista it seems to have written over the MBR. I was wondering if there was an easy way to get grub back on hd0 without having to reinstall Ubuntu. I know this is a common question but I have read the other threads and none that I could find helped me.

I'm a newbie my self and I use Suse 10.2, but when I do something same, but only with XP, I just do Suse auto repair and install all missing packages or formatted files. So try to install Ubuntu in hard drive and in the process should ask you what you want to do install, reinstall or bellow repair Ubuntu. Most the times it works for me. It takes like 5 - 10 minutes for me.

Boot into your linux install using a boot disk, or failing that, pop in your install cd and access rescue mode.

Use command grub-install. Details on it here
