Question problem connecting remote target using kgdb 1.4 with linux 2.4.20-8

Hi,

I am trying to get a working kgdb setup using a RH8.0 development machine and RH9.0 target machine. I have downloaded and applied linux-2.4.20-kgdb-1.5.patch to kernel 2.4.20-8 (several hunks failed, but I merged changes manually) and rebuilt kernel with remote debugging over serial enabled. I have also modified grub to boot the new kernel on target and the target is waiting for connection for remote gdb.

However, gdb on my host machine is unable to connect to target and dumps following messages:

Remote debugging using /dev/ttyS0
Ignoring packet error, continuing...
Ignoring packet error, continuing...
Ignoring packet error, continuing...
Couldn't establish connection to remote target
Malformed response to offset query, timeout

I have checked my null modem cable using minicom/echo/cat etc. and seems working(although on host machine cat < /dev/ttyS0 seems to not wait for input from other side and just comes out---but if i run minicom on host and echo some text to dev/ttys0 on target, it works). Is there a way to figure if the problem is with cable/connection or with the debug kernel I have made?

Does anyone have a tested debug kernel for 2.4.20-8?

Thanks in advance!
