Hi, welcome to LQ!

Please help us in helping you; which distro are you running, and
what does the nvidia installer log look like?

Cheers,
Tink

It's always good idea to add the content of "/var/log/Xorg.0.log" when you are asking a question especially related to X window i.e nvidia or ati radeon drivers.
Did you make "NVIDIA------" binary file executable
or installed using package manager??

What video card? And what version of the nvidia driver? It looks like the version you have installed may not support the card you have in your system.
