Problem after installing Mandrake 10.1

Hello,

Tonight, i installed succesfull mandrake 10.1. But when i would like to reboot on windows, it doesn't work, the screen remained black. so i try to run lilo, but it didn't worked, i also try the program of reinstallation of windows but it didn't worked too. I really don't know what todo :

Here is the part of lilo.conf :
other=/dev/hda2
label="windows"
table=/dev/hda

and here is what i get when i type cfdisk :

name Flag Part Type Type SF [Label.] Size (Mo)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
hda1 Primaty W95 FAT32 5110,72 *
hda2 Amorce Primaty NTFS [] 25588,85 *
hda5 Logical Linux swap / Solaris 509,97 *
hda6 Logical Linux ReiserFS 8814,69 *

The content was in french, itry to translate the best i can in english

In fact the problem may be due to the "[]", i don't have it on another computer which works fine.

Thanks for your help !!!

hmmm..sounds a bit odd.
I had a similar problem with my install.

Is your Windows installation on the same physical disk, or is it sitting on another drive?
What you might need to do is try re-installing (or repairing) your Mandrake install - and when it comes to selecting the bootloader, you will need to place the grub or lilo bootloader on your Windows drive.

Worked for me. HTH.

Thanks for your answer, i'll try to reinstall mandrake this week. I installed mandrake and windows on the same physical disk. I had already installed mandrake, and it works fine !!!
bye

Cool.
As far as I can remember the sequence is like this:

- Install Windows to primary master partition (hda)
- Insert Linux CD of choice and reboot (booting from CD-Rom)
- Install Linux on the partition (hdb) ... this assumes that the drives are setup in this manner.

When it comes to installing a bootloader (either Lilo or Grub) choose to put it in the MBR of hda (the Windows Drive). It should pick up the Windows installation and add an option to the bootloader.

Reboot and enjoy your dual boot system.

Well in fact, i've got only one physical disk, but i'll try to reinstall windows, because in fact i've got a the rescue program of windows works, i ran it, but it didn't work so i think i will reinstall windwos next week-end, coz i've got exams soon.

Thanks for your help.

Bye
