Problem Accessing Documents, Music, Videos, Downloads through Places on top task bar

When I try to access my personal folder Music by clicking Places>Music I get the Appearance Manager instead, actually if I click on Documents, Music, Pictures, Videos, or Downloads the only thing that appears is the Appearance Manager. I cannot find out why this is happening it happened before and I reinstalled Ubuntu, now it has happened again is there any other way to access those folders besides through Places.

Thank you

1. You probably have some kind of a "my computer" icon on your desktop.
2. You can run "nautilus" from command line, if you think there is problem with "Places" links.
3. You can start your music from your favorite music player, rather than going to music directory and double-clicking the files.

Still, this this should be temporary solution, and it shouldn't satisfy you. Finding an other way to do things, won't change the fact your PC is malfunctioning. Would you post screen shot of this "Appearance Manager" that pops up when you try to access directories through "Places"? Were you able to normally access your directories after reinstallation(at least for short time)? If yes, what did you do before you noticed it is acting strange again?
