Problem 2: samba networking to windows, no access

when attempting to access my friends (same network) PC, it requests a password. In the past when using win-XP i was not promped for a password when attempting to access his "shared documents". Now if i even try to access his PC at all, i'm prompted. I've tried using lisa... same thing. Any ideas on how to access his pc like i used to (without having to create a special account on his pc just for me). Any info would be greatly accepted.

He has to share his files under a certain account l/p. You need this even if it's administrator/<blank>.

When you connect to a share from Windows XP it trys to connect with the username and password you used to log on to the desktop, and that username/password works for his Shared Documents folder.

Obligatory warning: don't connect a Windows system to the Internet without a firewall when File Sharing is enabled, and don't use File Sharing at all without setting account passwords, because enabling the service actually opens remote access to every file on the machine from everywhere.
