Printing problem from RHEL 5.2 to the Parallel printer in HP 9000 server

We have HP 9000 (HP UX 10.2) server and there are 5 LIPI line printers configured in the server. One printer is attached to the parallel port of the server and the other 4 printers are being used through Windows print server.

We have a RHEL 5.2 Linux server and all the printers in Windows print server are working fine from Linux login. However the printer in the parallel port of the HP 9000 is giving error in the printers.conf file as Unable to connect to CIFS host. SMB entry is SMB://hp-server-ip/dev/printer-file-name
The /etc/hosts of both linux and HP servers have entries of each other.

How to resolve the parallel port printer error. I'm New in Linux.

how does the smb.conf on your HP-UX host look like? Are the printers really shared on the HP-UX box?

Problem is Partly resolved

The above problem is partly resolved by changing the printer to LPD. However when the lpr command is used, the /var/spool/lp/request/lpn shows a different entry for the file name.
