Printing Problem
First off, I have Fedora Core 1, and my printer is a Lexmark X5150 all-in-one printer.
My problem is that every time I try to print something, it takes about five minutes, then it just roles a piece of paper through the printer, it doesn't print anything. How do I make it be able to print something?

Right we have a problem. There currently is no Linux driver for that printer.

Well not ever, not until someone rights a driver for it, or Lexmark releases one themselves.
You can always pester Lexmark. They do have Linux drivers for some of there printers on the website.

o....
ok, I guess I'll just pester Lexmark.. For the X5150, there are only drivers for Mac and Windows... I don't really feel like buying a new printer.

I know, its a pain.
I delibratley went for a HP since they seem to have Linux Drivers ready for all the printers. But All-in-ones, are especially a pain to create drivers for.

I couldn't get a networked Lexmark printer to work consistantly with Red Hat 6.1 but it works fine with Linux 7.2. I'm at home so I cant check the exact Optra number but I selected Postscript printer and it works fine - in text - I haven't tried any graphics. Since the printer was set up to handle the Windows side of dual booted computers - static IP addresses - I expected problems but so far, though I haven't had the chance to test it extemsively, it seems to work with 7.2. RedHat 6.1 is a different story but I would expect from RH 7.2 Linux can handle it.
