Hi i have just installed linux mint i think all is ok but i installed a kodak hero 5.1 and is printing fine until i try and print within beersmith 2 it just sends a blank page any help on this please
You mean this Beer Smith 2??? "BeerSmith 2, Home Brewing Software" http://www.the-home-brew-shop.co.uk/..._Software.html. I've heard of printing 3D guns but I've never heard of printing beer. Is this something new?
In fact it doesn't appear to support linux.
Quote:
BeerSmith 2 is available for the first time on the Macintosh platform (all intel-based Macs with OSX/10.5/Leopard or higher) as well as Windows 7, Vista and XP. The Macintosh and PC versions are nearly identical, and share common file formats including BeerSmith 1.x support.

the programe works fine but when i come to print off a recipie it prints a blank page but all my other applications print fine eg libra office etc
just wonderd if there is anything i could do to resolve this as this would be perfect for me and i could make windows redundent
What exactly does the program do? Does it give you any text/images that you can print using another application? Does the program have a print preview function or any other parameters on its print command? I'm have trouble understanding what exactly this program does and why it wouldn't use the available printing resources on your machine.

ok the programe is a peice of softwhere that allows you to develop a recipie for beer making then it calculates how much of everything you need like malt water yeast etc then it calculates oll this up and gives you a step by step guide to brewing that recipie which you can print out and take to where you are brewing.
It does give you a print preview and also gives you an option to print to PDF which i have tried and guess what the pdf just prints a blank page i could send you a copy of a pdf if you wish and you could see for you self
1. Is there a "Print to file" option?
If yes, then you could compare that with the output of the same option used by applications that do print correctly (using other documents, obviously) and see if they resemble each other.
2. Do the recipes show up on the screen?
If yes you could use a screen capture program such a ksnapshot (KDE) to create an image file of your recipe that you would be able to print.
3. I am suspicious of the quality of a program that can't even use the available printing resources found on your system.
4. You say there is a print preview capacity on this program. Does your page appear correctly on the preview?
5. I assume the pdf file is of a blank page. I don't see any purpose in sending that to me. I know what a blank page looks like.
6. I also assume that your printer functions correctly for all other applications save this one.

Sounds like a problem in the program. Did you try the BeerSmith forums?
yes tried the forums it is a problem with the program but i have now found a way to print i print to file then open with gimp image editer and import the PDF and it prints fine so i can live with that until they find a way to print within the program
Also, does it sound like it is actually printing something (print heads moving) or just ejects a blank sheet?
I'll quit trouble shooting then. Or not, maybe I'll check this program out when I get home tonight, sounds interesting.
Can you create a .txt file and print?
as you say printer just chucks out a blank page from the program and from the pdf reader but inport in to gimp and prints fine
download it have a play see what you come up with i would be very interested
