Printing from a Lexmark printer across a partition into XP?

I'm somewhere between a newbie and a greenhorn. I'm dual-booting Hardy Heron Kubunto and XP on a Compaq Presario. My Lexmark X4530 prints nicely wirelessly from the XP side but not from Linux side because Lexmark has no Linux driver for this printer. Seems to me that with Wine or Samba or something I should be able to convince the printer that a Kubuntu-generated document came from the XP side where the driver works just fine. Am I dreaming?

If you're printing directly to it (and not shared), you do not need Samba. Given the lack of information on your setup, I would suggest going through the "New Printer" details and select "IPP". Under "Host Name" type your printer's IP address.

Mine is 192.168.0.101:9100 as I'm using a wireless print server.
