Unhappy printing?

I have a canon s520, and i run slackware 9.0, and i use LPRng;
i originally tired to get it working through usb, but i gave up and got a printer cable, then sortly after i figure out how to work usb in linux :|, any way
i had a large proble finding a driver for the canon s520, i used the canon bjc 8200 in kprint but i didn't work, then i configured APSfilter, and it will print a test page beutifully, but other applications don't seem to print, is there something i should configure in the program, or in Kprint?

try looking in the directory at www.linuxprinting.org for your printer and the appropriate driver
