I am using kubuntu.
I've setup my network printer in printers under system settings and because I couldn't find a driver for it I set it up as a raw printer. This worked fine for the last two days. However now all of a sudden I cannot print to it.
The printers utility says the printer is working. I even managed to find a driver for my printer, a Minolta di251f. I installed this driver and sent a print job to the printer, it says it completed successfully, however when I goto the printer there are no printouts.
Others are able to print to this printer from windows without a problem, I also installed the driver on a win2k system just to get my print job sent out... But I'd like to fix the printing problem in Linux. Is there any log files or anything that I could check that might guide me in the right direction as far as troubleshooting this?

followed the thread as you said... I tried the following:
1. sudo foomatic-cleanupdrivers
it deleted a bunch of empty lines
2. sudo adduser cupsys shadow
cupsys was no already in group shadow
3. sudo dpkg-reconfigure cupsys configured everything as I thought it needed to be configured.
After doing this I closed and reopened the Printers option from system settings and tried adding the printer again. It still did not work. I also tried adding another printer, an HP LaserJet 3700, and had no luck with it either. Both printers will say they printed successfully in linux, but noting comes out of the printer itself. It's like my print job is being sent to a fake printer...

I mentioned that I added an HP.... I tried printing with it and it's not saying it printed successfully. It's showing the print job as queued... I've tried increaseing the priority but it doesn't help. Is it possible a queue has been created with a bunch of stuck jobs on my PC even though I've tried deleting the printers and reinstalling them? If so where could I find the print queue?

Well I feel like a complete newb, guess I've posted to the right place!
After installing the HP I did some more reading on this site and found out I could check CUPS using a web interface. When I checked it I was told the HP had a socket error, it still said there was nothing wrong with the Minolta...
After wondering what could cause a socket error I realized that I must be on the wrong port! I tried port 9100, instead of 631 for the network printer and the HP is working perfectly now!

Thanks for all your help!
