Printers and KDE

I have installed a Brother printer using Brothers instructions on a LinuxMint 12 Gnome machine. This is a networked printer through samba. I have installed the KDE version on a couple of desktops, now, I cannot get the printer to install on the KDE versions. What am I doing wrong, I thought that since LinuxMint is Ubuntu based that the driver package should be a .ppd file or .deb package. Can someone give some pointers?

It doesn't depend on KDE or GNOME or any other Desktop Environment you should install Cups and configure

Sir, thanks so much for you help. First can I give up an up-to-date and then maybe you would give this newbie a few pointers. I used the Cups services to install, sorry I did not mention that in the first posting. I have went to the two LM12Gnome desktops, went to the Cups site, took screens shots of all the settings that are applied on the Gnomes (both work well BTW). Then I went to each of the two LM12KDE desktops, navigated to the Cups site, applied the settings verbatum. Rebotted the printer, and both KDE versions. I still get (See Attached Screenshot). The screen shot is short of fussy (another issue). I will go ahead and type out the error. :stopped ""/usr/lib/cups/filter/brlpdwrapperMFC420CN failed"

I get this same error on bothe KDE versions, however the Gnome versions (same exact settings) work fine. In my Linux upbringing I thought that the Desktop enviroment version, did not matter as long as the kernal was adressed, i.e. debian, or redhat. So, this is where my experience stops, so I need help on what to try next, if you can help I really would be thankful or point me to something where I can selfheal. I really love the Linux world, but not having much experience calls for a lot of questions, thanks for your time.
