Printer sharing/ local network

Brand new to Linux - experimenting via an old PC with SuSe 9.3.

I have a setup which is a wireless connection to my main PC (windows XP) and my Linux PC is directly connected to my Modem Router via an ethernet cable. My Printer is physically connected to my XP PC and I have activated the local network via the wizard on the XP PC. I presume the XP wizard wouldn't work with the Linux PC, so how do I get the Linux PC to 'join in' and enable me to print from there (and file share)? I have tried to get my head round the 'SuSe for Dummies' I bought but I am struggling with the new terminology and can't figure it out.

Cheers

Thanks comprookie2000. I located Samba and it appears to be the way what I'm looking for. I'll read up and try to get it going

A completely different kind of solution, and a touch more expensive since it means buying hardware, would be to go with a dedicated print server. I've got a Linksys wireless print server that works great with Linux, Mac and Windows. The only downside is that it only handles one printer. I have seen wired print servers that can handle up to three printers.
