Printer Sharing How to
Ok, I just got done installing FC3 (FC4 wouldn't install) on the family's computer. Attached to this computer is a Brother HL-1440 printer. I set it up in Fedora and it prints fine.
Now I need to set it up to be shared so that I can print to it via my Mac OS X machine. If I go to add a printer from Macs preferences, a printer called "Created by redhat-config-printer 0.6.x" with the information I put in Fedora. Under "Print Using" it says "Brother HL-1440 Foomatic/hl1250 (recommended)" However when I try to print to it, I get an error that says simply "Print Error" from OS X. Our home no longer has any Windows machines, so I can't test from one. Can someone point me in the direction of some how-tos or some way to get Fedora and Mac to play and share together? |
I would suggest using CUPS . It's very easy to get working and is available on both Linux and Mac.
