hi all, just started out with linux mint today (newbie), I am trying to printout documents on the laserjet m1132 mfp but everything is coming out blank. I have already uninstalled and reinstalled hplip-3.18.9, tested out on cups 2.1.3, but nothing. the printer is working fine on windows 7. Any help will be highly appreciated!
hi flshope, following your trail, am installing the driver now, but how do i get to download extra files needed? i.e. firmware files. when I tried to put in M1132 as the printer model number, I get the error, "getweb: Don't know how to get extra stuff for printer M1132"
I am running Debian 9.5. The foomatic files I installed from the repository are:
foomatic-db/stable,now 20161201-1 all [installed]
foomatic-db-engine/stable,now 4.0.12-2+b1 amd64 [installed,automatic]
foomatic-db-gutenprint/stable,now 5.2.11-1 all [installed]
If you execute the command
Code:
foomatic-ppdfile -A|grep foo2xqx
you get a list of supported printers. It does not list the M1132, but based on the URL I gave above, I would expect one of the listed drivers to work with your printer. Perhaps the following (just a guess):
Code:
HP LaserJet M1120 MFP Id='HP-LaserJet_M1120_MFP' Driver='foo2xqx'
I think the firmware is included in the driver package from the repository.

Reason: additional info
hi flshope, two things, I run the code you gave me and the response I got was that there was no foomatic database present, secondly from the link you gave me earlier, I found and downloaded the compressed file foo2zjs.tar.gz instead of the one you indicated, foo2xqx. Still stuck but really appreciating your guidance
hi there, flshope, I did found a different driver from foomatic, downloaded and installed it, installed an additional plug-in from hp, then towards the end, chose the gui option of locating the printer; again took the manual option with the choice of 'mfp printers' instead of 'all printers' from the dropdown list. And to my surprised, it actually worked!! did a test page, and text from libre office, and everything went just fine. Thanks for the lead. so.., how do I mark this as solved?
