Printer not printing Canon s400
I have just migrated to Linux Mandrake from Windows and am completely new to Linux but cannot get my printer to print. I print through a USB port with a Canon s400 bubblejet printer, from what I can tell all the settings are fine, and if I sent a file to the printer it says that the printer is printing, but nothing happens.
I am using a Via technologies P4Vmm2 motherboard with onboard sound and USB etc. and cannot get any sound out of the system either. Can anybody assist? |
Similar problem with Slackware and a Lexmark on a prallel port with spooler LPRng.
Found this on the web: /usr/share/apsfilter/ from a command prompt: ./SETUP (SETUP is all uppercase) This will step you through setting up your printer for any port. After two weeks, this worked for me. I could never get the apsfilter right. If I bypassed the filter, it still did not work, but the utillity seem to do the trick. |
There is an enormous amount of info on the topic of printing at The Linux Documentation Project:
http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/Printing-HOWTO/ Have you checked your distributions' website? It was invaluable for me to follow the distribution specific guide, and saved me a lot of time. |
