Printer Installation

Hello, Im trying to install a printer via command line in fedora using the make/model and printer name/ip.

I do not know much about CUPS or if i even need it. Any suggestions on how to simplify this process would be appreciated, Thanks

If you use cups you can do it from your browser. It's quite easy.
1. Install cups
2. point your browser at localhost:631
3. In the column labelled "Cups for Administrators" click on the first item, to wit, "Adding Printers and Classes"
4. Follow the instructions which are clear and easy.
ciao,
jdk

What is the model of your printer?
It's the #1 question!
Are you sure it's working fine in Linux? Check please: http://www.openprinting.org/printers
If your printer has an Ethernet interface (and as I understand, it does) it's much better.

Then you may use either CUPS web interface (as written above) or your OS printer management GUI. In Ubuntu it can be launched with the 'system-config-printer' command (don't remember where it's hidden in the GUI menu).

as asked for what is the make/model of the printer.

to add a printer via CLI you use lpadmin to add the printer.
