Printer driver for Canon Pixma Pro9000 Mk2

I've just installed Linux Mint and am very pleased with it in general. However, I'm having problems with printing. The only printer driver I've found is called "Canon 50i - CUPS+Gutenprint v5.2.9". There's no print preview, nor indications of ink levels. In trying to print a PDF file, the colours are wrong and the image doesn't fit the page. I've looked on Canon websites and they seem not to produce a compatible driver. At the moment, I'm having to restart in Windows 7 to do my printing, which is a pain, to say the least. Any help would be gratefully received.

This tread from the Ubuntu forums might help. It contains a lengthy post signed by a Canon maintainer. http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2172214

Thanks Frank. A very useful link.
Looks like I'll have to do a bit of experimenting with the printer configuration.

Good luck. Based on what I've seen here at LQ, Canon is not known for being Linux-friendly. Don't have any personal experience with them, though.
