Unhappy Printer configuration does not work

I'm a newbie running RH 9. Installed Samsung ML 1710 that works fine (driver came with printer)
The problem is, I want to share this printer with other computer in the network.
As far as the network set up, there's no problem.
But when I try to access Printer Configuration (redhat-config-printer) to set up the sharing, the printer configuration window open for one second and disappeared.
This is the msg that I got when I run the command through terminal:

$ redhat-config-printer
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/sbin/redhat-config-printer", line 9, in ?
import queueTree
File "/usr/share/printconf/util/queueTree.py", line 927, in ?
queueTree()
File "/usr/share/printconf/util/queueTree.py", line 101, in __init__
if cups_import.import_needed ():
File "/usr/share/printconf/util/cups_import.py", line 200, in import_needed
which = which_spooler ()
File "/usr/share/printconf/util/cups_import.py", line 191, in which_spooler
which = l.split ('.')[1].strip ()
IndexError: list index out of range

Is there anyway I can share this printer without going through printer-conf? Plus, what is going on with the printer config?!!?

Thanks

A simple solution

I had the same problem with Tao Linux, a RedHat Enterprise Linux clone. For my system, the solution was to set the locale $LANG to "C" before launching redhat-config-printer:

(root@patsilou:root)# export LANG="C"
(root@patsilou:root)# redhat-config-printer

If it doesn't work for you, a reinstallation of cups and cups-libs may do the job:

(root@patsilou:root)# rpm -e --nodeps cups cups-libs
(root@patsilou:root)# yum install cups cups-libs
or
(root@patsilou:root)# up2date cups cups-libs
