How do I check/flush my print queue in Linux? What command is that/what KDE utility? I see where I can manage my printers, but when I hit "Edit Queue", it takes me to my printer driver. I'm trying to set up a printer I've never used before in Linux and am having trouble out of it, possibly from my older driver though. I have set it as default, but I think (even though I hit Apply Settings) that it still has stuff in the older driver that I still have installed alongside the fresh driver. This printer is working in a similar configuration under Windows (properly,anyway), but I do most of my "work" under Linux.

a side note: Has anyone heard any problems out of a driver for a IBM LazerPrinter E (Lexmark 4019)? I am trying to use a Lexmark 4019 LazerPrinter driver under both OS's and have the Windows version working. Where can I find a Linux update? (lemme guess, rpmfind.net? I should be ashamed for asking this.:tisk: :p ).

lpq
is used for seeing the queues
and the
lprm
command is for removing a print job
see the man pages for more info on arguements that you can pass to these commands .

as of KDE, i have no idea as i don't use KDE ..
and according to linuxprinting.org the IBM 4019 has a perfect working status

Naturally I found the KDE queue tool (print notification icon) just after I posted this. Why do I keep doing that? :tisk: Anyway, I appreciate your response. My printer (mentioned) is not working at this time, and I am using the 4019 driver. It's spitting out garbage (cussing at me :p ), which is why I thought it was using the wrong driver. I have also noticed (under Windows) that there are three diferent drivers for it, and I had to download one to get it working. What's the deal? Will I need to download a new RPM for it?

Let me try that ppd file first though. :) Anything else I need?

What do I do with my ppd file? I haven't seen a mention on what to do with it yet. (I bet I find it now when I log off and start looking again. :p ...but still post.)

I am using Mandrake 9.1, and it came with CUPS installed, so setting up printers (Both HP lasers, as it happens) was a breeze. Maybe you already have CUPS installed. Try entering

http://localhost:631/

In your browser, and take it from there.

I saw that in the man pages on my RedHat 9 system. I have yet to find anything about what to do with ppd files. Any ideas on where in that database it might be?

Well, after trying to replace a CUPS generated ppd in /etc/cups/ppd with the downloaded ppd, my printer's still doing the same thing. I did make a backup of the original though. What could be the deal? Does RedHat 9 really use CUPS? ...or has someone heard that it uses something else? How would I know, and if I have several print managers, how would I know which one's handling it?

How would I know what print manager's recieving my jobs? I may be playing with the wrong manager.

I am able though to print simple text from command line. When I try to print some OpenOffice document I get gibberish.
