preventing root login

How do i prevent direct root login? Where will i get help about securing Linux? Regards Vishal |
What distro are you using???
|
I am using Redhat Linux 8. I am using no graphical login as it is not supported.
|
And, as Root, did you already create user accounts ?

Well read up a little bit on PAM (Pluggable Authentication Modules) - http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/libs/pam/ , look up /etc/securetty it must be well commented and self-documenting. And also get used to sudo - http://www.sudo.ws/sudo/
There is a helpful example on setting up sudo http://www.linux4biz.net/articles/sudo.html |
