premissions for ports

i'm trying to get my '/dev/printers/0' to work with normal users (is that the parralell port)
but it wont let me change the premissions for that port. I goto root then change it and when the computer is rebooted it just changes back to rw- rw- ---

So don't reboot
No, seriously - do you use devfs? If this is the case, then you'll have to edit devfs configuration files and change the permissions there.
If not, then some mandrake startup scripts "fix" your permissions for you. I suggest that you ask in Distributions -> Mandrake forum.

-moving right along i don't know what the hell defs is so i guess thats a "no, i don't not know what devfs".

*sigh* only 30000 more problems to get through after this one--
