pppoe, how to?

I'm going to be getting a pppoe DSL Modem soon, and would like to make sure that I am prepared for the adventure that lies ahead. What I'm wanting to know is if there are how-tos out there that aren't like 8 years old, the PPP how-to talks like it's new technology. Is there an easy tool, can I just use pppconfig to setup my pppoe? Any pointers to info would be much appreciated. Also in case it's important the modem will be a speedstream 5100B through SBC/Yahoo DSL. I'm really looking forward to it!!! My friend downstairs gets 100KB/S on a regular download, which might not seem like a lot to some of you, but I've never had anything higher than dial-up (started on 2400 Kbps modem yeehaw!)

I may be thinking of the wrong dsl modem, but doesn't that one have an ethernet router built in? If so, just connect it to your ethernet card and you should have an easy time getting it up and running.

Yes I'm pretty sure it does, but what tool should I be using to get it going, maybe it iis really easy, but I'd like to know what I need to do even so.

Just access the internal router config then, and setup the PPPoE in there. That's it - no PPPoE on the computer needed as everything will be DHCP from the router.

I'll need to enter my username and password somewhere wont I? Do you need to dial a number with ADSL? How do you connect that's the question? I don't know much about highspeed as I have never had it. How do I setup my internet account with ethernet ppp? What is the application I need to use?
